TE(Fontaines D.C. photographed by @ifucktokyo. High res)   In line with their biggest North American tour to date kicking off this week in Seattle, Dublin quintet Fontaines D.C. have released a deluxe edition of their acclaimed fourth album ROMANCE. Available on all digital services via XL Recordings, ROMANCE (Deluxe Edition) adds three songs to the original 11 track album. In addition to the recent “It’s Amazing To Be Young” and its stunning, Luna Carmoon-directed music video, the deluxe album also features the brand new, James Ford-produced song “Before You I Just Forget”. Completing the trio is a live, stripped-back version of “Starburster” that sees the band melding their biggest song to date with David Lynch’s “In Heaven (Lady In The Radiator Song)”, which originally featured on the soundtrack of Lynch’s 1977’s Eraserhead film.

STREAM / SHARE ROMANCE (DELUXE EDITION) HERE

Speaking on the new music, Conor Curley said “‘Before You I Just Forget’ is a song that started with a vision of this really blown out sound, something that heaved and shifted with new details, becoming apparent every time you would listen. Like never being able to step in the same river twice, the song morphs and changes, finishing with an incredible string part by Grian.”

The release precedes a huge summer of live activity for Fontaines D.C. In addition to the 24 date North American tour—their first headline shows in the States since 2022—which culminates in three sold out shows at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom on May 16-18, the band will perform to 100,000 people across four sold out UK outdoor headline shows this summer. These include a 45,000-capacity event at London’s Finsbury Park on July 5 alongside events in Manchester, Cardiff and Newcastle. These shows will crown sold-out headline dates around the world, including Europe, Asia, Australia and North America alongside a run of high-profile festival appearances. Full dates below and full ticket info via https://fontainesdc.com/pages/live

2024 was a defining year for Fontaines D.C., with ROMANCE lauded as one of the year’s very best albums, cementing their status as one of the most exciting bands in contemporary music. Topping multiple “album of the year” lists around the world, the James Ford-produced album was quickly certified gold in the UK and saw the band winning a BRIT Award and nominated for two GRAMMYs among a host of accolades; a celebration of Fontaines D.C.’s ambitious world-building and bold musical evolution. It received a host of five-star plaudits from the likes of NME, The Guardian and Rolling Stone UK while songwriting legend Elton John declared that they’re “the best band out there at the moment”. The 11-track masterpiece presents a bold leap forward for the band, weaving together ideas that have been percolating among Grian Chatten (vocals), Carlos O’Connell (guitar), Conor Curley (guitar), Conor Deegan (bass), and Tom Coll (drums) since their acclaimed 2022 release, Skinty Fia. With its innovative sound and captivating artistry, ROMANCE cements Fontaines D.C.’s status as “the defining band of their generation” (NME).

Scottish progressive post-metal artisans DVNE unveil their epic, critically-adored new full-length, Voidkind, out now on Metal Blade Records.Forged in Edinburgh in 2013 by Frenchman Victor Vicart and native Scot Dudley Tait, DVNE have been building a powerful head of steam since their second album, 2021’s kaleidoscopically mesmerizing Etemen Ænka, their first release for the legendary Metal Blade Records label, and a concerted hike up the greasy pole for this enigmatic outfit. The record ultimately enabled DVNE to embark on UK and European headlining tours and win spots at such discerning festivals as Hellfest, ArcTanGent, Desertfest, Damnation, and Resurrection. A live EP of reimagined album tunes, 2022’s Cycles Of Asphodel, kept up their profile while satiating demand from a rapidly mushrooming fanbase, and now in 2024, stunning third album Voidkind looks set to propel this expanded five-piece line-up (welcoming Maxime Keller on keyboards) to the top of their game. The songs on Voidkind are more pointed, direct, and memorable, yet the soundscapes retain the radiant, evolving, and hypnotic flow, the effect achieved with fewer layers of sonic ornamentation, consciously urging closer to DVNE’s incendiary live sound.Thematically, Voidkind carries on with the band’s narrative which traces a religious group through the generation line from the beginning to its end while the record’s stunning artwork depicts the main motif of this chapter, namely, “a godlike entity seducing and luring followers through their dreams and these followers’ multigenerational journey to reach their god dimension.”Stream DVNE’s Voidkind HERE:

“Voidkind is a candidate for post-metal album of the decade thus far. Every note’s perfectly placed to make this an album that demands re-entry again and again. Between this and dune: Part Two, 2024 is already proving a spotless year for fans of batshit cosmic maximalism.” 9/10 — Metal Hammer UK”The third album demands attention from the very first note – on the one hand because the strong first song ‘Summa Blasphe Mia’ and all the following tracks have a certain musical ambition, and on the other hand because the virtuoso playing of the instruments is simply gripping.” — Metal Hammer Germany”The album is definitely recommendable, especially because DVNE writes damn good riffs and embeds them in an exciting environment, as on Voidkind, which will definitely be one of the highlights of the genre in 2024.” — Fuze”With Voidkind, DVNE propelled themselves to the top of the progressive charts for 2024 and manifested their exceptional position in such an impressive way that they truly left no wishes unfulfilled.” — EMP”Post-metal done right.” — Scream Norway

“DVNE continue their rise to the stars, delivering yet again on every imaginable front with a gargantuan tome of staggering riffs, gorgeous hooks, and stunning soundscapes.” — Everything Is Noise”Voidkind is a compelling journey through the cosmos and the soul, beautifully brutal and intricately crafted, demanding multiple listens to truly appreciate its depth and craftsmanship. DVNE has set the bar high for the future of prog-metal, delivering an album that is not only powerful but profoundly moving.” — Lots Of Muzik”DVNE have truly outdone themselves on what is sure to be a highlight for this year and for their careers overall.” — Nine Circles”With Voidkind, DVNE have stepped up once again from the significant success of their previous work. With influences ranging from Tool, Mastodon, Opeth and Neurosis to the Boards of Canada, the quintet have nurtured their developing sound and produced an expansive but exquisitely coherent album. The band demand a lot from the listener and multiple listens are essential to fully unlock everything that they have subtly and painstakingly constructed both musically and lyrically. For fans willing to scale the heights for which DVNE are aiming, they will be richly rewarded indeed. Join the religion…” — Hotel Hobbies
Voidkind was recorded between September and November 2023 in Edinburgh at Craigiehall Temple and Byres Farm in Scotland and features the stunning artwork of Felix Abel Klaer.Voidkind is currently available on CD and digital formats as well as 2xLP.Find ordering options at:

The German band has been a defining force in metalcore for over two decades, and with “Back From Hell” they deliver the result of a two-and-a-half-year creative journey in which they discovered a new sonic direction and meticulously refined it, while simultaneously preserving the essence of their signature style and redefining their unmistakable metalcore sound. The new LP deals with themes such as inner struggle, resilience, and catharsis, combining the band’s trademark crushing riffs and guttural vocals with atmospheric melodies and modern production. It also features guest contributions from Jonny McBee (The Browning), Joe “Bad” Badolato (Fit For An Autopsy), and Lukas Nicolai (Mental Cruelty), among others.

Led by founding members Andreas Dörner (vocals) and Marc Görtz (guitar), the five musicians will not only be in Dortmund just in time for the new album release. And that’s good news for anyone who can’t make it there on that day, because just under a month later, there will be another opportunity to get the record signed at the Leipzig store :

ANTHRAX JOINS LINE-UP FOR BLACK SABBATH’S
    “BACK TO THE BEGINNING” CONCERT
Anthrax Also Joins Slayer This Summer for Two UK Shows

LOS ANGELES, CA (Monday, April 14, 2025) — For the first time in twenty years, Anthrax will share a stage with Black Sabbath when the band performs at Sabbath’s “Back to The Beginning” concert set to take place on Saturday, July 5 at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. Anthrax toured with Black Sabbath on the band’s 1986 “Seventh Star Tour,” which was also Anthrax’s first arena tour. The last time they were on the same bill as Sabbath was in 2005 at the Download Festival in the UK.

“I’m a huge Black Sabbath fan,” said Charlie Benante, “and Black Sabbath was so, so instrumental in the sound of Anthrax back in the day. Back in ’86, when we were working on our third album, we wanted to do a B-side of a Black Sabbath song. ’Sabbath Bloody Sabbath’ was the song that we chose. We did it as a B-side, we played it live, and it became a big thing for us. Growing up Catholic, in a Catholic household, my mom did not appreciate Black Sabbath. One day when I came home, my sister took me to the record store and I got one of those iron-on Black Sabbath t-shirts, it was the cover of ’Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath.’ I got it home, my mother saw it, she made my sister take me back to the store and return it. She would not have it in the house because it had the ‘666’ on it. I was still a Black Sabbath fan so I had to kind of keep it hidden from my mom.”

“I discovered Black Sabbath when I was about eight years old, sitting in my uncle’s room at my grandparents’ house,” said Scott Ian. “My uncle was 17 or 18, had a big vinyl collection and blacklight posters all over his walls, and I thought he was the coolest dude in the world. I would go through his albums, pull records out and he’d play them for me. I remember pulling out this record that said ‘Black Sabbath’ on it, the album cover was kind of scary, so I asked him ‘what’s Black Sabbath?’ And he said, ‘oh, they’re acid rock…” and I didn’t know what that meant…I thought maybe that was the terminology back then for a genre. And then he put the album on. Everyone knows how that record starts, with the sound effects and the rain and the bell, and then the band kicks in…there’s nothing like it. At that point in time, the scariest, heaviest thing I’d ever heard in my life. Maybe still to this day, when that song ‘Black Sabbath’ kicks in, there’s just nothing like it. I started playing guitar when I was about 10, and Tony was definitely an influence, so I’d try and figure out how to play ‘Iron Man’ or ‘Paranoid.’ Just listening to the records, Tony Iommi was essentially my guitar teacher.”
“I’m definitely a huge Sabbath fan,” said vocalist Joey Belladonna, “and over the years I have covered many Sabbath and Ozzy songs. We toured with Sabbath on the ’86 tour, and it was so electric. That was a huge tour for us, and we were just overwhelmed to be part of it. That Anthrax was asked to be part of Sabbath’s ‘Back To The Beginning’ concert is quite a big honor.”

“I heard about Sabbath through my friends at school,” remembers Anthrax’ Frank Bello, “who said the band was great. Plus, I thought the album cover was scary as hell. Although I love most Black Sabbath albums, that first one, Black Sabbath, is still my favorite because it was my introduction to them, and the songs are still amazing. I’m also a HUGE Geezer fan, I grew up on his playing, and I’m honored now to say he’s a friend. Geezer was and still is one of my main influences on bass. He always puts beautiful musicality & melody into everything he plays. His bass lines make you want to play bass. He is also an amazing person. “It’s an honor to be part of this show and I’m very grateful to Black Sabbath & Sharon Osbourne for asking us to be part of it.”

“I’m absolutely, 100% a Black Sabbath fan,” admitted Anthrax guitarist Jon Donais. “I was an Ozzy fan first because I grew up in the ‘80s, and of course, Ozzy was on MTV all the time, so he’s who I got into first. And then, my teen years were in the 90s, and I started getting into Black Sabbath. When I start to lean into a band, I usually get the band’s greatest hits or some kind of compilation. But my first Black Sabbath album was Sabotage, which is actually my favorite Sabbath record. Sabotage was a little darker than the others, and I would listen to it all the way through as soon as I put it on. A good friend of mine and I went to the same college, and we’d be up until three or four in the morning just listening to Sabotage and then having to get up for school the next day, and that sucked.”
